Yuleba’s cenotaph plan on way
LONG-TIME Yuleba resident Paul Masson knows the heritage behind the town's cenotaph - that's why he can't wait to see it get redeveloped.
The president of The Yuleba Development Group believed replacing the old cenotaph was long overdue and a great opportunity.
"Council has published a Garth Cox Memorial Park Masterplan-Draft for resident to comment on the cenotaph and the park," he said.
"There were (a few) proposals for the Cenotaph, and a public meeting in Yuleba to discuss and consult with citizens about their thoughts on the construction of the cenotaph."
Mr Mason said he hoped the proposal would be approved before Christmas.
"The proposal is still up for consultation, but once the council approves construction, it should take place before the end of the year," he said.
"The most important thing is the Cenotaph will be in place for Anzac Day, 2016."
Maranoa Regional Councillor Cameron O'Neil said the project was still currently in its consultation phase, there are currently two Cenotaph options that are being reviewed by the community.
"These options include the upgrade of the cenotaph (which will be located in the centre of Garth Cox Park), linking in with the Yuleba Memorial Hall, where the Honour Boards are currently located," he said.
