Young woman killed in horror crash was a passenger

A 21-YEAR-old woman was killed in a single vehicle crash in south-west Queensland on Saturday morning.

The Boronia Heights woman was the passenger of the vehicle, which was driving along the Mitchell Hwy 30km south of Augathella around 6.30am.

Queensland Police has determined the driver, a 22-year-old Charleville woman, swerved to avoid an animal, before leaving the road and hitting a tree.

The passenger died at the scene, while the driver was taken to Charleville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Traffic diversions remain in place for most vehicles whilst the Forensic Crash Unit continue their investigations. The diversions are not suitable for heavy vehicles.
