Young, old alike struggle with IT

SOME young Australians feel they are not keeping up with the fast-moving world of information technology, a new study shows.

The Australian Institute of Family Studies' survey of 1600 adults aged under 35 found one in 10 felt they were not keeping up with the pace of IT.

It also showed one in five of those surveyed believed they would be "left behind" in the future.

Institute assistant research director Ruth Weston said while Australians were quick to embrace IT, the volume of information made the future "seem daunting".

Ms Weston said concerns were even higher among older age groups, peaking among those aged 65 and older, where just under two-thirds of respondents felt they had been left behind by the rapid changes.
