RIO 2016: Wu happy with fifth-place finish

DIVING: Melissa Wu hasn't ruled out attempting to compete at a fourth Games in Tokyo.

Having made her Olympic debut as a 16-year-old in Beijing when she won silver in the 10m platform, the Australian would still be only 28 by 2020.

"Another four years?" she replied when asked if she would go around again. "We'll see. Depends on my injuries."

After a fourth placing in London 2012, Wu was again denied a return to the podium at the Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre in Rio, finishing fifth in the 12-diver 10m final.

Chinese pair Qian Ren and Yajie Si won gold and silver, with Canada's Meaghan Benfeito claiming bronze.

"They are amazing athletes," Wu said. "I love watching them train. Every dive is perfect, pretty much. It drives and inspires me.

"It was a really tough event. To even be up in the top five, I'm really happy with - especially with the pressure of the Olympic Games."

Australians Domonic Bedggood and James Connor are competing in the men's 10m platform tomorrow morning (5am AEST).
