Woman airlifted after Warrego Hwy collision
WEDNESDAY 8AM: A woman remains in a Brisbane hospital after a serious two-vehicle crash west of Toowoomba late yesterday.
RACQ LifeFlight airlifted the woman, aged in her 40s, to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment of critical head injuries suffered in the Warrego hwy smash about 6pm Tuesday.
The woman had been travelling west on the Warrego Hwy when her car and another vehicle collided at the intersection of Gowrie Rd at Gowrie Mountain.
The Toowoomba rescue crew was tasked to the scene at 6.20pm.
Queensland Ambulance paramedics stabilised the woman at the scene before she was airlifted to Brisbane.
TUESDAY 7.55PM: Emergency services are preparing to airlift a woman from the scene of a two-vehicle crash west of Toowoomba this evening.
The woman has suffered critical head injuries following the crash at the intersection of the Warrego Hwy and Jannuschs Rd, about 25km west of Toowoomba at Gowrie Mountain.
The RACQ LifeFlight helicopter is preparing to airlift her to a Brisbane hospital.
An ambulance spokesman said the woman appeared to have serious head injuries.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services helped free the woman from one of the vehicles in which she was encapsulated but not trapped.
Emergency services remain on the scene and traffic is being diverted around the area.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area and delay travel if possible.
Traffic is being rerouted through Kingsthorpe, and the Warrego Hwy is expected to be closed until later tonight.
6.30PM: An emergency medical helicopter has been called to airlift a woman with critical head injuries from the scene of a two-vehicle crash.
Queensland Ambulance paramedics have called to a priority airlift for the woman from the scene about 25km west of Toowoomba at Gowrie Mountain.
It is understood the woman has suffered serious head injuries in the two-vehicle crash.
Emergency services are at the scene.
The woman was reportedly entrapped in the wreckage of one of the vehicles involved.
Injuries to other motorists in the crash are unknown at this stage.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area or expect delays.
6PM: Two vehicles have collided and a woman has serious head injuries in a crash on the Warrego Hwy near Toowoomba.
The crash occurred about 6pm near the intersection of the Warrego Hwy and Jannuschs Rd about 25km west of Toowoomba.
A woman has serious head injuries and is being treated at the scene by a doctor who was driving in the area at the time of the crash.
Emergency services are responding.
The crash has reportedly caused heavy traffic congestion in the area.
