Woman charged after armed robbery at fast food shop

A WOMAN has been charged following an armed robbery at a fast food shop at Mermaid Waters this evening.

It will be alleged just after 8pm a women entered the Karbunya Street business whilst wearing a mask and produced a knife demanding money from staff.

A second staff member used a sign to push the woman out of the store. She rode off on a bicycle empty handed.

No one was physically harmed during the incident.

A woman was detained by members of the public a short distance away until police arrived.

A 30-year-old Mermaid Waters woman has been charged with armed robbery and is expected to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court on December 28.
