Woman airlifted from Taroom after single vehicle accident

A WOMAN in her mid-20s was airlifted to Toowoomba after she was involved in single-vehicle accident in Taroom this afternoon.

It is believed the accident took place around midday, approximately 40 kilometres north of Taroom on the Leichhardt Highway, in the Banana Shire.

Both occupants of the vehicle were transported to the local hospital by the Queensland Ambulance Service, before CareFlight's Roma-based rescue helicopter was called.

The Surat Gas Aero-Medical Service then airlifted the woman who was suffering from back and head injuries from Taroom Hospital to Toowoomba Hospital.

The patient travelled in a stable condition.
