A WOMAN has been airlifted to hospital with suspected head and neck injuries after falling from her horse on a property north west of Noosa.

The patient, in her fifties, had been riding on a private property at Cootharaba around midday when her horse shied, throwing her off.

She is believed to have landed on her head.

The rider was treated at the scene by Queensland Ambulance Service and the Critical Care Doctor and Intensive Care Flight Paramedic on board the RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter, before being flown to Nambour Hospital in a stable condition.
