WINNERS: Maranoa Business Awards 2020

IN its seventh year of the Maranoa Business Awards, businesses were able to reflect and pride themselves on overcoming the challenges of 2020 by showing resilience and exploring new opportunities.

The Maranoa Business Awards were launched in 2014 as a mechanism to acknowledge excellence in the Maranoa business community with a view to encourage others to survive and grow.

Cyril Peet, president of Commerce Roma kicked off the night saying “what a year this has been” with the rise of COVID-19 and how it has affected businesses in the region.

“2020 has been built with uncertainty and despite the affects and restrictions of COVID-19, the business community has shown resilience,” Mr Peet said.

“COVID-19 has changed the way we do business in a lot of ways, but a lot of businesses have chased business opportunities through the internet and social media.

“And while 2020 is not over yet, we have projects that will be great for our region – the near completion of the new Roma Hospital, the start of new IGA store as well as establishment and expansion of new and exciting businesses across the Maranoa.”

He said the awards encourages other businesses to grow but also to highlight that the region is moving forward with the times and needs of our community.
