LOCAL NSW Fire & Rescue services have placed booms around a leaking vessel at the Coffs Harbour International Marina.

SUNKEN boats, finger wharves destroyed, the marina office in tatters - the Coffs Harbour International Marina is severely damaged by the high seas generated by the East Coast Low at the weekend.

Local fire services and a Hazmat unit were at the marina this morning to address the damage.

A tenant reported one yacht and a trimaran had sunk in the marina in the last 24 hours.

Marina manager, Elise Curry said ensuring the site is secure is the first priority.

"The first thing we need to do is assess exactly what's gone on we had more damage overnight, we need to secure anything that's broken loose," Ms Curry said.

"It's just getting it safe before we start repairs and assessing all of that."

Sailor, Garth McGilvray said the damage has left many of the marina's tenants feeling uncertain.

"It's a very low mood because nobody has any certainty about what's going to happen with their boats whether they'll have to move to another port, perhaps Yamba," Mr McGilvray said.

"All of the arms and fingers of the marina are insecure and access to them is limited,

"What we have to hope for is some part of this marina can be stabilised so that some boats can still say in Coffs Harbour,

"And there's no slipway to take them out and put them on a secure base."

Coffs Harbour MP, Andrew Fraser, Cowper MP Luke Hartsuyker and Mayor Denise Knight were also down at the marina to assess the damage.
