What your Maranoa Regional Councillors declared
MARANOA residents headed to the polls on March 28 to vote for eight councillors and a mayor to represent them at a local level.
All councillors have submitted their Registers of Interest, declaring memberships, organisations and financial assets that the community needs to be aware of.
Here’s what your councillors declared:
Mayor Tyson Golder signed his form on July 24 and declared that he holds shares and/or controlling interests in AMP Limited, Telstra and Meribah Distribution.
He is the trustee of Golders Trading Trust and operates the clothing stores, including the one on McDowall Street, as well as Toowoomba.
Cr Golder has a self-managed superannuation fund for both Days Gutter Pty Ltd and Victoria Street Holdings Pty Ltd.
He also invests in properties, including one property in Toowoomba, as well as owning 840ha of land at Euthulla.
He is also member of community groups and organisation being the president of the Roma and District Junior Soccer Association and the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron in Manly, Brisbane.
Cr Golder has also declared his John Deere Mower and Kawasaki Mule, as assets over $5000.
Deputy mayor Geoff McMullen holds shares and/or controlling interests in GEEJAY (QLD) Pty Ltd and Blue Energy, an oil and gas exploration company.
He also runs a truck hire service under McMullen Clifford Family Trust and owns two personal properties in Roma.
Cr McMullen has sponsored hospitality benefits at Roma Sub Branch RSL Inc and Roma Clay Target Club Inc, with complementary lunch on special events.
He earns income from trust distributions and cattle grazing.
Councillor John Birkett owns two properties in Mitchell, a 1144 sqm work shed and a 160 acre (64.7ha) residential property.
He is a member of the Mitchell & District Junior and Senior RLF Clubs and the Mitchell RSL.
His other sources of income come from school bus runs, a plumbing business and cattle grazing.
Councillor Mark Edwards declared that he has shareholdings and/or controlling interests in Rosedale Orchards Pty Ltd and Kox Pty Ltd.
He is also part of a partnership with Mark Kim & Camron Edwards, as well as KG Edwards & Rosedale Orchards Trust for primary production of livestock.
His superfund is owned by Rosedale and holds a “Group election account” with Westpac.
Cr Edwards is part of the Roma Aero Club, Roma Historical Precincts, National Tax & Accountants Association, Tax & Super Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Councillor Julie Guthrie has a one third share in the Guthrie Pastoral Group, for grazing cattle.
She owns almost 2000ha of grazing land near Injune, with over 500ha of this owned in common with family members.
There’s also a Toowoomba residential property sized at 960 sqm that she owns.
Cr Guthrie holds an “Election” savings account with Westpac.
She is a member of the Queensland College of Teachers and AgForce.
Councillor Johanne Hancock has declared a 4500 acre (1821ha) property outside of Roma which she part owns for cattle grazing.
She also has an equipment mortgage with NAB and earns an income from Surat Post & News Pty Ltd.
Cr Hancock is a member of the Roma Turf Club, Surat Diggers Race Club and the Surat & District Development Association.
Councillor George Ladbrook owns a total of six properties totalling over 3000ha combined, including a property at Highfields, Toowoomba, which he has not declared what the land is used/intended to be used for.
He also owns a rental, a butchery and grazing land.
Cr Ladbrook is a committee member of the Roma Turf Club.
Councillor Cameron O’Neil is a member of the Liberal National Party and Commerce Roma, as well as the Roma Show Society, Golden West Apprenticeships, Roma Hostel Committee, Tattersalls and Australia Institute Company directors.
He declared that he is a non-executive director of LGIA Super, Golden West Apprenticeships and Maranoa - Country University Centre.
He is also a trustee of 281 Sandgate Road Investments Pty Ltd, as well as a shareholder in ESR Management Pty Ltd (trading as LJ Hooker Toowoomba), which is his parent’s business.
Cr O’Neil owns a residential property in Roma but has not disclosed the size of the land.
He was also gifted over $500 by Ms Elspeth Barker worth of graphic design.
Councillor Wendy Taylor holds shares and/or controlling interests in the Stockwell Group, as the director of Rebelville Pty Ltd.
She also has a self-managed superfund and is a joint tenant at a number of Quintin Street locations including both residential and commercial properties.
Cr Taylor has a “Council account for election” with Westpac and is also the treasurer of the Roma Clay Target Club.
