What to do when a koala is stuck up a tree
THERE'S a happy ending for the little koala who climbed a high tree near a busy road in Cooroibah.
Passionate koala spotter Bernard Jean, who runs the Facebook page Noosa Koala Sightings, has shared the story of a koala he named Coorah.
It was spotted by a couple in Cooroibah on New Year's Eve because it was high up a tree, near a busy road.
When Mr Jean went to look the next day, he discovered the road was the least of the koala's problems.
Its bottom showed a "full-blown cystitis" and would have been "in a lot of pain".
But getting the koala to safety was another issue.
Two climbers from Australia Zoo's Wildlife Hospital Rescue Team tried to rescue Coorah, but she stayed out of reach.
Koala Rescue's Ray Chambers was able to rescue it and it was taken to a vet for antibiotics.
"She really enjoyed her butt soak and wash and felt a lot better just having that cleaned up," Mr Jean wrote
