Wet weather expected for Maranoa, Balonne

THE Bureau of Meteorology has forecast wet weather over Southwest Queensland this weekend.

Forecaster Rosa Hoff said there could potentially be storms in Roma on both Saturday and Sunday.

“Official forecast has 0-4mm on Saturday and more rainfall on Sunday,” she said.

“For Roma on Sunday, we’re forecasting between 5mm and 15mm.

“Under the right cloud we could see 30-40mm, potentially with storms in the area.”

Ms Hoff said storm clouds will be sparse on Sunday and not every patch of the Maranoa will experience heavier rainfall.

St George will see greater rainfall on Saturday compared to Roma, but less on Sunday.

“Generally on Saturday - probably about 5-10mm, and 0-5mm for Sunday,” Ms Hoff said.

“Places could expect to see a couple of millimetres or as many as 15.”

Much of the wet weather will be experienced in towns south of St George.
