'We're having sex this weekend': our street poll turns heads

AT least one Sunshine Coast couple are going to be having some action under the covers this weekend.

Aroona's Colin White says he and wife Bernice will be having sex.

It's not the reaction I was expecting when out on the streets of Caloundra meeting people and doing the Daily's street poll.

Most reactions to a street poll are what you would expect.

I had already had three people decline my invite to be in the section that appears in the paper most days before I saw Colin and Bernice sitting on a bench overlooking Kings Beach.

They were sitting close, chatting and cuddly.

If this was the warm up, they're in for a good weekend.

I approached tentatively expecting another reaction with my usual script "Hi, I'm Kathy from the Daily and I was wondering if you would like to be on a street poll for tomorrow's Daily. I ask you a question, take your photo and get your name and it goes in the paper."

Colin asked what the question was and I said "I want to know what you are going to be doing on the weekend."

His spontaneous reaction floored me.

"Well, we have sex on the weekend," he said.

Wife Bernice was slightly embarrassed, but she didn't deny it and bashfully agreed to a photograph and they gave me their names.

I reassured them it was a great answer, it is!

I'm not sure how many other couples have plans for the weekend, but if you need some advice, just ask Colin.

We know he and Bernice are going to be having fun.

Councillor Jason O'Pray found the lighter side of the street poll and said "oldies will be inspired all over the Coast this weekend."
