Weather forces change of location

Predicted bad weather has forced a change of location and schedule for Roma's Australia Day program.

The festivities will now take place in Bassett Park instead of the Big Rig as first planned.

The ever popular fireworks display has also been cancelled.

The celebrations will still begin at 6pm with official proceedings starting at 7pm at Bassett Park.

Maranoa mayor Robert Loughnan said residents could expect a range of great entertainment, food, music and activities, regardless of the weather.

"With so much on offer this year, you are guaranteed a fun, family friendly day wherever you are based in the region with events in Roma, Injune, Mitchell, Surat and Wallumbilla," Cr Loughnan said.

There are no reported changes to Australia Day events at other towns in the Maranoa.
