OPINION: We need to welcome development to Fraser Coast

WITH developer Peter Chen keeping true to his word the Fraser Coast saw a $30 million housing development evaporate before our eyes.

All over the development application fees, apparently.

With the region's new council starting to take shape, it's obvious there needs to be solid leadership to attract new development and new ideas to the region and of course, create jobs.

If we do end up with Cr Chris Loft as mayor, I really do hope he sticks to his promises to pass on savings to the ratepayer and get back to basics.

While our leaders should definitely be focussing on keeping the council's balances in check, we need to be looking to the future and innovative ideas to make sure this region doesn't become stagnant.

I know developer incentives have been promised, now let's see what they can do.
