Warrego Highway reopens between Dalby and Chinchilla

THE Warrego Highway  is now reopened between Dalby and Chinchilla.

Water over the road has receded and police said motorists can now travel between the two towns.

But the Warrego is still blocked off between Chinchilla and Miles at Charley's Creek, just west of Chinchilla.

Motorists can currently only travel east from Chinchilla as roads are blocked off to the north, south and west of the town.

This is expected to be the case for the next 24 hours.

Charley's Creek is expected to peak at 6.2metres later today and stay there until Wednesday.

The Warrego Highway heading west from Chinchilla is not expected to reopen today and may not open tomorrow.

Meanwhile 300 Ergon Energy customers are still without power in Dalby, Chinchilla and Warwick.

The Condamine Meandarra Road and the Chinchilla Tara Road are also closed with water over the roads in several locations.

The Jackson Wandoan Road is closed, with water over the road at Tchanning Creek, 18km north of Jackson.
