Wallumbilla-Surat Red Bulls into first Grand Final since 2013
LEAGUE: It's a result the Red Bulls have been waiting three years for.
Wallumbilla-Surat will officially field at least one side on grand final day after the reserve grade side dominated minor premiers Roma Cities from start to finish.
The 34-16 win ensures the club will make its first grand final appearance since the mighty reserve grade side stormed to the premiership in 2013.
Coach Trent Knight said his side was ready to repeat their efforts from three years ago after watching them dominate the ruck area against the Gladiators.
"One of two things we really wanted to work on were our completion rates, which we did go away from in the first 10 minutes, but once we got back on track we started really rolling through them with our big men and went wide with our little fellas,” he said after the match.
"The other was defence; 16 points was what they put on us, which is not too bad for a semi-final.
"I'd prefer nil, but I'm still happy.”
Knight coached the reserve grade side in 2012, when the Red Bulls lost to St George.
He reflected on the heartbreak his troops felt that day.
"If we get to the grand final, we want to win it.
