Wallumbilla students put pen to paper for love of Show
FEW would argue students Lachlan Cooper and Brooke Maher love the Wallumbilla and now they’ve got the chance to prove.
Year 5 and 6 students from Wallumbilla and Yuleba State Schools have been hard at work developing short proses and poems about the famous Ag Show, which is coming up this weekend.
The pieces will be on display in the pavilion at the Wallumbilla Showgrounds, something Lachlan said he was excited to see.
“I love everything about Wallumbilla – all the sports, the community and the school and the show,” he said.
“My favourite thing at the show is to hang out with my friends and go on all the rides.
“The fireworks (sponsored by Santos) are pretty cool too.”
While Brooke also said she loved the social side to the Wallumbilla Show, there was another side to the weekend that she never missed out on.
“I’m in the horse events on Friday so I’m going to be doing some show jumping,” she said.
Acting school principal Julie Guthrie said the exercise was an opportunity to involve the students in the Wallumbilla Show to ensure young people still showed an interest in it.
“We’ve also extended the opportunity to Yuleba students as well to get them involved,” she said.
