Waldrons head off to Mackay
Roma's loss is Mackay's gain this week as Myles and Roslyn Waldron and their two sons head north in search of pastures new.
The Western Star caught up with them as they held a final garage sale at their Geoghegan Road home on Saturday before packing up.
Myles was the popular pastor of the Church of Christ for three years while Roslyn was a former Muckadilla State School principal in the 1990s before starting a family.
Apart from a couple of years in Goondiwindi, Myles said he has lived in Roma all his life working in a succession of jobs including the NAB in Injune and Roma, general manager at the family business in Mounts Machinery and even working as a postie.
Myles said this varied life experience helped him when he finally entered the ministry.
But the lure of a new challenge in Mackay has proven too strong to resist and Myles successfully applied for the position of pastor at the thriving city's Church of Christ.
Roslyn meanwhile is heading back into the Department of Education and has been appointed principal of Swayneville State School which is a P7 school some 30km south-west of Sarina.
With the boys Zach and Ethan enrolled at Mackay Christian College on the north side of the city, the Waldrons have found a new home on the south side to enable easy access to the places they all need to get to.
