The Bachelor: Vinteaea tells why she had to walk out
VINTAEA Carlos was the talk of tonight's Bachelor premiere after walking out on the show's star Richie Strahan.
The Yeppoon-born beauty, who moved to the Sunshine Coast with her family and attended Noosa High School before moving to Brisbane, was one of 22 single women to get frocked up for their glamorous first meeting with Strahan at a cocktail party.
The 25-year-old said she immediately knew Strahan and Channel 10's reality dating show were not for her.
At the first rose ceremony, where The Bachelor normally decides who stays and who goes, she wished Strahan well and took her own leave.
But things seemed to have worked out for Strahan, who told APN he has found his dream woman through the show.
APN caught up with Ms Carlos as she prepared for her move to the US on Friday.
Q: What was going through your head when you decided to voluntarily leave during the rose ceremony?
A: The moment I met Richie, I knew he wasn't right for me so I left, pretty simple. If the bachelor had been a guy I initially liked, then I would of pushed through the dresses, make up and high heels and stayed and gone for the win.
Q: You obviously decided on the night the show wasn't for you. Do you regret going on the show?
A: I don't think so, although I had hoped the man would have been for me, I gave it a shot and was myself, that's all that matters. I would have regretted staying and not walking as I would have been dishonest to myself.
Q: What were your first impressions of Richie?
A: I knew he wouldn't have the personality to be able to handle mine and knew pretty much straight away that he wasn't the guy for me, hence why I left. He seems shy and portrays a different level of confidence to me. I would most likely override him. He would need to be on constant caffeine to keep up (with me).
Q: I hear you're moving to America, can you tell me about that?
A: I am going to university of Tennessee to learn a bit more in my field of sport and exercise science, it's a (NCAA) Division 1 college so I can't wait to work with amazing athlete, very excited! I leave on Friday.
Q: I know you used to be a rower, are you still into the sport?
A: Yeah I love rowing. I am so blessed to have started at such a wonderful club Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club with amazing coaches Kerrie and Cherrie. I am still rowing hopefully a bit better than what I was on Noosa river few years back. I'm now in Brisbane at commercial rowing club. I've just had a bit of time off lately, but I do hope to row while in the States and when I get back next year.
Q: Do you still have family on the Sunshine Coast?
A: Yes, my wonderful mother is in Pomona and a few of my sisters are around Buderim area so it's nice to come visit sometimes.
The Bachelor continues tomorrow at 7.30pm on Channel 10.
