ROMA residents have been getting creative with minor flooding around town, after more than 60mm of rain dropped on the region over the weekend.

Josh Halpin snapped the above video showing local Walter Giddins getting into his swimmers and diving into water outside the Commonwealth Hotel on Saturday night.

And plenty of others are celebrating after 61mm fell on Roma and Mitchell in the 24 hours to 9am on Sunday.

This means 93mm have fallen on Roma in the past seven days.

Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Adam Blazak said the heavy rain was unusual for September, and that residents should expect even more next week.

"The rain will last for a couple of weeks," he said.

BOM are predicting around 10-20mm on Wednesday morning, with the weather not likely to clear up properly until early October.
