Victoria Shaw calling the shots at the Roma Cup

AUSTRALIA'S only female race caller is set to make waves as she prepares to call some of the events at the Roma Cup meeting this weekend.

Victoria Shaw, who has been involved in the racing industry since 1998, has high hopes for the excitement of the Roma Cup Carnival and the wonderful ability that the horses and riders will demonstrate.

Ms Shaw said she was looking forward to getting a better reflection on regional racing towns.

"I'm looking forward to what's on offer from the Maranoa; I haven't been there at all," she said.

"Rural racing participants, male or female, have to work twice as hard to get opportunities to participate outside their regions."

"I can certainly appreciate the occasion of being out at country cup event."

Ms Shaw's work in provincial towns has given her a greater appreciation of the faces behind them.

"I want to celebrate all the participants; four-legged or two," she said.
