Police seek witnesses to fatal Gateway Bridge crash

UPDATE: Police are appealing for any witnesses to a two vehicle traffic crash on the Gateway Bridge which claimed the life of a man in Eagle Farm on Wednesday afternoon.

 Around 2pm, a utility travelling southbound on the bridge has collided into the rear of a truck travelling in the same direction.

A 28-year-old man, the sole occupant of the utility was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The 47-year-old male driver of the truck was not physically injured.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

 

Man killed after crash between ute and truck

ONE person is dead and three lanes of traffic closed after a crash between a ute and a truck on the Gateway Bridge in Brisbane.

Initial information suggests around 2pm, two vehicles crashed in the southbound lanes of the bridge.

One person, and the sole occupant of one of the vehicles, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A male driver, the sole occupant of the second vehicle, was not physically injured.

The three left southbound lanes of the Gateway Bridge were closed and motorists are being advised to avoid the bridge as it is causing considerable congestion.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
