JUST like that, school holidays have rolled around again.

For many, the six week stretch ahead of them seems daunting, as they struggle to find ways to entertain their kids.

The Western Star has compiled your ultimate guide to school holiday boredom busters. Whether you live in Roma, Mitchell, Injune, Surat, Wallumbilla, Yuleba, we have you covered.

INJUNE

Summer reading club – A roomful of stories, Tuesday December 17 from 10-11am at Injune Library, free for all ages.

Wednesday 18:Blue Light Matinee, mystery movie: a free sausage sizzle lunch to be provided at Injune memorial Hall from 12-2pm.

Thursday 19: Dazzling Christmas Craft at Injune library from 10-11am, creative Christmas decorating activity.

Friday, January 3: Injune library activity – come and create your 2020 calendar. Free for all ages, from 10-11am.

Tuesday 7: Summer Reading Club, from 1-11am at Injune library

Wednesday 8: Wot’s On Gymnastics fun and fitness – a wonderful gymnastics experience. numbers are limited so bookings are essential. Call 1300 007 662 to book. First session 9.30-10.30am, second sessions 11am-12pm at Injune Memorial Hall. free for all ages, but must bring a water bottle and wear closed in shows.

Thursday 9: Be water aware with an Outback Yabbies adventure at the Injune Swimming Pool. Free for all ages, bring a hat, sunscreen, swimmers, town and water bottle from 4-6pm.

Tuesday 14: Injune Cricket Clinic on the Steve Murray Cricket Oval. Come and test your cricket skills, with a free sausage sizzle on offer after the clinic. Open to all ages, but must bring a hat, sunscreen, shoes and a water bottle.

Wednesday 15: Crack Up Sisters Workshop, come and learn the Australian art forms of stock whip cracking, knockabout acrobatics and circus. Bookings are essential as numbers are limited, call 1300 007 662 to book your place. The workshop will be in the Injune Memorial Hall from 10-11.30am, free to all ages.

Thursday 16: Pull up a pew (or a campchair or bean bag) for a family friendly movie and a free sausage sizzle as part of the Santos Summer cinema series. Get your dinner from 6.30pm at the Injune Library grassy area, before the movie begins at 7pm.

Tuesday 21: Think island fashion at the 2020 Kids On Tour fun filled activities morning, from 10-11am at the Injune Library.

Wednesday 22: Are you up for the inflatable challenge? Bring your favourite inflatable to the Injune Pool for a fun filled afternoon. This activity is better suited for confident swimmers, with a free sausage sizzle. Come down to the Injune swimming pool from 3-5pm. Don’t forget your hat, swimmers, towel, sunscreen and water bottle.

Thursday 23: Aussie Aussie Aussie, oi oi oi! Head to the Injune Community Centre from 10am-12pm for a morning of Australia Day crafts with Injune arts.

MITCHELL

All holiday long, why not bring a group of friends to the Mitchell Library to enjoy a few hours of playing board games, a guaranteed way to beat the head. The library is open from 9am-12pm, and 1pm-5pm Monday to Friday, and 9am-12pm on Saturday.

December

Monday 16: Get crafty at Mitchell Library, by enjoying making your own Christmas craft. Head to Mitchell Library from 9.30-11.30am, bring a water bottle and snacks, and don’t forget your Christmas cheer.

Tuesday 17: Maggie Caskey has limited numbers for guitar and voice lessons, bookings are essential – contact Council.

Tuesday 17: A special night for teenagers only, dive into a movie night at the pool. Start the night with a barbecue from 6pm, with a movie set to begin at 7pm. Tickets are $5 and bookings are essential. Bring your togs, towel, inflatable device to watch a movie on in the pool.

January

Tuesday 7: Escape the summer heat and enjoy free entry to Mitchell Pool from 1pm. Children under 15 must have supervision. Don’t forget your hat, sunscreen, water bottle, togs, towel and money for drinks and snacks.

Tuesday 7: Head to the Mitchell Youth Shed for a fun slip ‘n’ slide and scooter fun, from 3-4pm. Don’t forget your hat, sunscreen, water bottles, scooter, helmet, and togs.

Wednesday 8: The Great Artesian Spa has a stellar swimming and movie night planned, with the first session for 4-12year olds from 3-6pm, with a spa swim followed by a Christmas movie. From 4pm, it’s the 13-16’s turn. Cost is $12 per child, which includes a barbecue dinner. Contact the spa on 4624 6923 for more information.

Thursday 19: Enjoy a free day at Roma Pool to escape the summer heat from 11am-1pm, children get in to the pool for free, but those under 10 must be supervised by an adult. Don’t forget your hat, sunscreen, water bottle, swimwear, towel and money for drinks and snacks.

Friday 20: Learn basketball tips and tricks from professionals at an afternoon clinic at the Roma PCYC. This is a free activity, don’t forget to wear closed in footwear and bring a hat, sunscreen, and water bottle.

Friday 17: Bring a chair, snacks, a water bottle and blanket as you sit back and enjoy a movie on the Big Rig’s big screen, as part of the Santos Summer Cinema Series. The movie will begin at 7pm.

SURAT

December

Tuesday 17: Know a wannabe artist? Why not get them in the Christmas spirit with a special morning of Christmas arts and crafts activities at the Surat Library from 10-11am.

Tuesday 17: The Surat Youth Zone will be open from 3-4.30pm, if you’re looking for a way to spend your afternoon.

Tuesday 17: Come along and enjoy a family fun evening in Teelba. There will be plenty of fun and games, with a sausage sizzle available at the Teelba School from 6-8pm.

Sunday 15: Enjoy the Noonga Community Christmas tree with a free barbecue. Community members should bring a salad and dessert, from 4pm at the Noonga Hall.

Monday 16: Visit the Wallumbilla library for some arts and crafts fun, from 12.30pm for all ages.

Wednesday 18: Come along to the Noonga Community Youth Activity Day at the Noonga Hall. Bring a plate to share for morning tea, with lunch provided.

Thursday 19: Christmas cheer is the focus of Three Cats Design’s art workshop in Wallumbill from 11am-12pm. Numbers are limited, so book your spot on 0401 443 373.
