Two girls hit by car while crossing road

POLICE are investigating a serious traffic crash at Benowa last night where two pedestrians were struck by a car.

Initial investigations suggest at around 7.45pm two females have attempted to cross Ashmore Road when they have been hit by an eastbound vehicle.

A 17-year-old woman sustained a serious head injury and a 16-year-old girl was also injured. Both were transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

The driver of the vehicle a 49-year-old woman was also treated for minor cuts resulting from a smashed windscreen.

She was also transported to hospital.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Investigations are continuing.
