High school at Caboolture evacuated after new bomb threats

TULLAWONG State High School was one of seven schools that received bomb threats earlier this morning.

Police were informed of the threats at around 8:30am.

Inspector Paul Ready said the threat was issued over the phone in a "robotic-type voice" indicating there might be an explosive device located at the school.

"It was a non-specific bomb threat, similar to a number of incidents that have occurred over the last couple of days," he said.

Mr Ready praised the evacuation processes Tullawong High had in place, which were carried out for nearly two hours.

"Students moved to the oval while police conducted a thorough search on the school premises," he said.

"We sent a couple of crews in there to get that done.

"We left the school by half past 10."

Police went on to conduct further searches at Tullawong State Primary School as a precautionary measure.

Mr Ready said he believed the threats were not coordinated to target specific schools.

"I don't think at this stage there is any pattern," he said.

Mr Ready could not confirm that police had a suspect but said a major investigation unit has been set up in Brisbane.

Mr Ready said Tullawong High was the final school to receive the threat this morning.

Other schools were Miami State High School, Keebra Park State High School, Cleveland State School, Camp Hill State Infants and Primary School, Calamvale Community College and Bracken Ridge State High School.

The Queensland Department of Education and Training worked with police to ensure all students and staff were safe.

A Department of Education and Training spokesperson confirmed the threats were of a similar nature to those made to schools interstate and overseas recently.
