True brew business for beer lover Mal
AS PATRONS move away from traditional pubs through the Ipswich CBD another trend in the industry is thriving - home brewing.
Home brewing fan Mal West has turned his passion into a business, opening Ipswich Brew Co. at Booval today.
Mr West has been experimenting with home brews at his Indooroopilly home for the past 20 years and has worked for a home brew wholesaler for the past 10 years and has noticed the demand in Ipswich.
"People are looking for better quality, not just looking for cheap grog," he said.
"There has been a shift to craft beers and we have evolved with that."
Ipswich Brew Co. will be a retail outlet for brewing kits, supplies, recipes and advice.

They will also sell cheese-making and sausage-making supplies and equipment for the curing and smoking of meats.
"It's about knowing what you're eating," Mr West said.
"You can still make great-tasting food and drink, but know exactly what's going into the making of it."
Ipswich Brew Co. opens today at Shop 3, 168 Brisbane Rd, Booval.
