Truck rollover causes major delays on Bruce Highway

UPDATE: THE Bruce Highway has reopened following earlier crash at Forest Glen which resulted in all lanes being closed for more than six hours.

EARLIER: EMERGENCY crews are still working to clear the Bruce Highway after a truck rollover at Forest Glen overnight.

A police spokesman said the truck rolled onto both lanes of the highway near the northbound BP and Mons Rd exit, Forest Glen, covering both lanes about 10pm Sunday.

It's believed it came into contact with a power pole and ended up on a median strip.   The crash resulted in a diesel spill.

The police spokesman said the spill then caused three other cars to crash into the truck.

"The cars tried to brake but they slid into the truck," he said.

The truck driver a 33-year-old man was treated with serious injuries.

One of the car drivers, a 50-year-old man was also seriously injured.

The police spokesman said while the injuries did not appear to be life threatening the extent was unclear at this stage.

The crash caused the highway to be closed in both directions overnight with southbound lanes reopening about 6am this morning.

The northbound lane still has one lane closed with another open, however traffic is travelling at a reduced speed of 60kph.

Delays are highly likely this morning.
