Truck leaves an "offal" mess on road

A TRUCK has lost its load on the Ipswich-Boonah Rd this afternoon, causing one very stinky obstruction for motorists.

Police say the driver of the truck carrying offal may not have been aware that he lost part of the load at Purga, 10km south of Ipswich, about 12.30pm.

Drivers immediately behind the truck certainly would have been aware of the fact that they had just ploughed through something funny, however.

A police spokesman says the first officers on the scene encountered what could only be described as a "stomach churning" scent.

Ipswich City Council has been called to clean up the mess, while the company involved in the spill has been notified.

Motorists are urged to take caution in the area.
