Truck catches fire on Warrego Highway

A COTTON truck has caught fire on the Warrego Highway about 15km outside Dalby.

The truck, which was travelling to the cotton gin, caught fire around 12.50pm.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the fire was brought under control in a matter of minutes.

The driver said he had noticed the smoke coming from the bales in his rear view mirror and attempted to put out the blaze himself before the fire brigade arrived.

Emergency services closed the westbound lane of the highway as they worked to control the fire and remove the prime mover.

There were no injuries.

The cause of the blaze, which scorched the outsides of six bales of cotton, is yet to be determined.
