Trip won’t cost Fyfe Brownlow Medal chance

FREMANTLE star Nat Fyfe is still eligible for this year's Brownlow Medal after the Match Review Panel fined him $1000 for tripping Western Bulldogs midfielder Koby Stevens in Sunday's 13-point win at Etihad Stadium.

Fyfe (pictured), an almost-unbackable $2.50 favourite to win the medal, avoided suspension after the panel rated the contact as intentional, but of low impact.

The 23-year-old is set to play his 100th game against North Melbourne in Perth on Saturday night.

Meanwhile, fellow Docker Ryan Crowley appeared before the AFL's Anti-Doping tribunal yesterday after testing positive to a "specified" banned substance last year. The 31-year-old, provisionally suspended since last September, claims he ingested the banned substance through a painkiller he sourced himself.

If Crowley is found not guilty, or suspended for eight months or fewer, it would free him to rejoin Freo's squad immediately.
