'Torture in NT just plain disgusting': LETTER

AFTER watching the TV program Four Corners and then reading about the disgusting behaviour of the "guards" at the youth prison in the Northern Territory and then the obvious disinterest by John Elferink (the minister responsible for young detainees in the Northern Territory) in what had been happening there, I feel outraged and disgusted.

These people either carrying out these atrocities or looking on and saying nothing need to be locked up themselves, masked and tied to a chair after being stripped and thrown across the room.

I see that Mr Elferink also was minister for Children and Families, Health, Disability Services, Mental Health Services as well as Correctional Services. Unbelievable!

He has ignored all actions that come under every part of his portfolios.

We are told he has been sacked from Correctional Services.

Does this mean sacked from the "Corrections" or sacked from all?

Hopefully, he's been sacked from the lot. (He retains the Attorney-General and other portfolios.)

He has gone against what he should be doing for all those positions.

Hopefully, those people who have been carrying on about behaviour of young Aboriginal people up north, will understand where and from whom they are learning their behaviour.

They are learning from these supposedly upright law-abiding adults.

And they are just plain disgusting.
