Second accused in Jake Lasker murder held in custody

UPDATE: A teenager charged with murder arising from the stabbing death of Toowoomba teenager Jake Lasker in November, 2012, has been remanded in custody.

Kyle Mitchell Dumesny, 19, was charged with murder by Toowoomba detectives on Wednesday and spent the night in custody where he remained during the brief mention of the matter in Toowoomba Magistrates Court this morning.

His solicitor Shane MacDonald told the court his client could not apply for bail on a charge of murder before the Magistrates Court so he was not required to be brought up from the watch house.

Mr MacDonald asked for an adjournment so a full police brief of evidence could be compiled.

He did not say whether or not a bail application for his client would be brought before the Supreme Court.

Magistrate Graham Lee remanded Dumesny in custody and adjourned the case for committal mention back in the same court on July 2.

EARLIER: Toowoomba detectives have charged a second man with murder in relation to the death of a man at Rockville in late 2012.

The body of 19-year-old Jake Lasker was found at a Hogg St residence on November 7, 2012.

A 19-year-old Wilsonton man was yesterday charged with murder and is expected to appear at the Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.

In November 2012 the then 19-year-old Glenvale man Max Peter Smith was charged with the murder of Mr Lasker.

Mr Smith is currently serving a life sentence after pleading guilty to murdering Mr Lasker and was sentenced in the Toowoomba Supreme Court on November 26 last year.
