Toowoomba man rushed to hospital after snake bite

A TOOWOOMBA man in his 20s has been airlifted to hospital after he was bitten by a 2-3 metre brown snake.

The man was chopping wood north of Roma about 10am yesterday when he was bitten on the right index finger by the snake.

He went to the Injune Health Service with vomiting and chest pain in the early afternoon.

He was airlifted by RACQ CareFlight's Roma-based Surat Gas Aero-Medical Service helicopter from the Injune airport to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.

Last month the CareFlight helicopter rescue service airlifted six patients from across southern Queensland with suspected snake bites in just three weeks.
