WINLESS in its past three games, the Sydney Thunder will be bolstered by the return of star batsmen Mike Hussey and Usman Khawaja for tonight's crucial Big Bash League clash against the Melbourne Renegades at Spotless Stadium.
Khawaja, who has been on Australian Test duty, scored a majestic unbeaten 109 in his last BBL outing against the Melbourne Stars on December 20, while Hussey is back from a hamstring injury.
A decision on his inclusion in the starting XI will be made by the Thunder's medical staff this morning.
Thunder batsman Aiden Blizzard said he believed another big home crowd would go a long way towards helping his team snap its three-game losing streak.
"I think a lot of us are happy to be home and back at Spotless Stadium," he said.
"The crowds have been excellent, the pitch has come up really nicely and hopefully we can do it against the Renegades."
While the Thunder has a 3-3 record, this is a must-win game for the Renegades, who are 2-4.
The 'Gades must also beat the Strikers in their last game in Melbourne next Monday, and rely on net run rate, to make the semi-finals.
Paceman Nathan Rimmington is back from injury for the Renegades, while off-spinner Nathan Hauritz drops out of the squad.
