Gladstone's own loo with a view could be flushed away

THE vacant block at Oaks Rd has long given beachgoers a "local's carpark" and the neighbours an ocean view from the loo.

But with fencing, machinery, scaffolding and housing pegs laid, the reality of the sold property becoming a home has sunk in.

The property sold in August last year for $1,050, 000, after being on the market for nearly three years.

For neighbours Carla and Jess Lovegrove and Falk Richtr, the vacant block has given them ocean views from almost every room in their home, even the toilet.

The trio has lived at the beachfront shack since August last year and today they'll be moving to Brisbane.

"We were pretty glad they hadn't started construction while we were here."

A neighbour across the road, who did not want to be named, said she didn't mind losing her ocean view.

"I feel pretty lucky that I've had it for a couple of years," she said. The new owners have been spotted by the neighbours laying out pegs during visits.
