The winner of the Maranoa’s best hairdresser is...
IF THERE’S one thing the hairdressers of the Maranoa know, it’s the fierce loyalty of their customers.
In a poll this week, we posed the question: who is the best hairdresser in the Maranoa? We had more than 100 comments on the original post, and 15 nominations.
In the end, two hairdressers were dubbed the best in the region with 18 per cent of the vote each: Toni Rodgers from Afros, and Kelly Sutton from Salon 78.

For 20 years, Ms Rodgers has been hairdressing, starting out as an apprentice at Tangles before she opened her own salon ten years ago.
“My clients are awesome, they are so incredibly supportive and they become my friends and my family,” she said.

“They have been with me for a long time and they have been incredible during COVID. They were coming in to get their haircut, or they were buying products or paying ahead for their next hair cut.
“And then some would just call to check on me and give me cards and gifts. My clientele are just so close to me, we’re one big family.”

Ms Sutton moved to Roma in 2015 and almost immediately opened up her home salon part time with a play area so her young son was never far and she could do what she loved.
“I love creative colouring and just the feeling when I’ve finished a clients hair, and they feel amazing,” she said.
“That is the best part of my job, making clients feel great.
“We offer personalised service, and we often have clients tell us they love coming to us as it is relaxing, all attention is on them, I think being a home-based salon is also the main appeal.”
Whether it’s the best coffee, tradie or hairdresser, help us uncover the best of the Maranoa.
