The funding to give Roma Men's Shed a new home
ROMA'S Men Shed will begin constructing the ultimate bloke's space thanks to a recent funding grant.
The State Government's Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF) have provided the group with $35,000 to construct a new shed.
Men's Shed president Alex Waldron said they were looking forward to have a space of their own.
"We are under the old scout building at present,” Mr Waldron said.
"But we are going to be going next to the Apex Shed in that area.”
At the moment, there is not enough room for the group to expand.
"We are crowded out where we are currently and we can't sort of increase in numbers,” he said.
"If we get too many we just cannot work there so that's a problem. It will give us enough room for a social area.”
Mr Waldron said the group would be able to create their own space and they could set it up exactly as they wanted.
"We won't have to move anything because, where we are, if the scouts want to come in then we have to move everything to share with them,” he said.
"We hope to have a bit of memorabilia up on the walls. We'll have sort of a showroom there to have things that we make on display.”
As well as the funding from the grant, the Men's Shed have also had to raise a portion of the money themselves.
"We had to have some to start with and we had to raise a certain amount of money to be able to show that we were doing something,” he said.
"We are thankful for all the support from the community.”
