Israel James was just 15 when he joined forces with Italian Matteo Shezmen "Shez" Delli Zotti to create an animated fan video for Daft Punk's recent release Give Life Back to Music.

Israel, now 17, stayed up late to work in real time on the 3D graphics with Shez, who was the mastermind behind the plot and 2D graphics in the five-minute masterpiece.

It took the duo eight months to complete and once they posted the video to YouTube in February last year, they received a few thousand views in just one week.

Despite the clip being temporarily muted by Sony Music, it is once again fully operational and has now eclipsed 200,000 views.

The icing on the cake, although bittersweet, came when they discovered the man credited with being one of the pioneers of synth disco and electronic dance music, Giorgio Moroder, had been using their video clip on the big screens during his live shows.

"Shez saw a Facebook post from Giorgio that had a photo of him in front of an image from our video at the Pitchfork Music Festival (in the USA)," Israel said.

"Footage from the festival showed he was playing by Giorgio By Moroder, a song on which he collaborated with Daft Punk on their new album, over the top.

"It was really humbling and really awesome, but he didn't ask for permission and we aren't getting any recognition for our work."
