Teen allegedly assaults three Roma police officers
A TEENAGE girl has been charged after allegedly assaulting a woman before turning on police in Roma on Sunday morning.
A 31-year-old woman was walking along McDowall St with friends at 2.10am when she allegedly became involved in a verbal altercation with a 17-year-old girl.
The girl then attacked the woman, punching her in the head and face and pulling her hair before she fled the scene, police said.
The woman sustained minor injuries from the assault.
When police later approached a girl on McDowall St and attempted to take her into custody, she allegedly punched a male constable in the head.
The girl is accused of then attacking a female constable, striking her in the mouth.
A male sergeant who attended the scene was also believed to have been assaulted by the girl as he escorted her into the police vehicle.
The three officers sustained bruises and scratches as a result of the attacks and were treated at Roma Hospital.
"It appears alcohol and/or drugs caused this appalling behaviour,” Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said.
A 17-year-old Eagleby girl has been charged with three counts of serious assault on police and one count of assault occasioning bodily harm.
She is due to appear in Roma Magistrates Court this week.
