Sydney rides to state level
Dressage: Sydney Bentley might only be nine years old, but one thing she is no stranger to is horse riding.
The St John's School equestrian team member has recently been selected to represent Queensland at the Australian Interschool Equestrian Championships to be held in Victoria later this year.
Sydney was selected as one of the top four primary school dressage riders from the recent State Championships held in Caboolture.
Sydney qualified for the state event after winning the Darling Downs and South West Primary Dressage Championship held in May.
Her coach Carla Cosgrove was proud of her young riders achievements.
"Sydney will be the youngest on the team and has only been riding for just over 12 months,” Ms Cosgrove said.
The talented student's noble steed is an eight-year-old pony called Glenormiston Rough Diamond that she has borrowed from her coach Ms Cosgrove.
Ms Cosgrove said the horse has proven to be a safe and reliable children's pony since he was gelded two years ago.
"Sydney is looking forward to the experience of riding at her first Australian championship and hopes to ride for her country when she leaves school,” she said.
