Successful negotiation leads to charges against Brassall man

POLICE were able to successfully negotiate the end to an incident in Brassall last night.

It will be alleged that around 7.30pm, police received information that a man with a firearm was inside a home at Robinson Street.

Although he made no threats to police or other occupants of the home, there were concerns for his welfare.

The man surrendered into police custody without incident.

A 24-year-old man has been charged with one count each of unlawful possession of a category H weapon and possession of explosives (ammunition) without authority.

He is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court today.
