Storms to lash Roma

SEVERE thunderstorms are expected to hit the Roma area this afternoon.

Bureau of Meteorology forecasts strong winds and large hailstones.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises people should:

- Move cars under cover or away from trees.

- Tie down or secure loose outdoor items.

- Seek shelter, preferably indoors and away from trees.

- Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.

- Beware of fallen trees and power lines.

- For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.

The Bureau of Meteorology will issue a follow up warning by 6.25pm.
