Sticking up for his partner sees man serve time

RUNNING around a bowls club with a schooner in your hand calling another person who you are banned from contacting a "pedo" will no doubt see you hauled before a court.

James Bernard Steele, 38, pleaded guilty on Thursday in Ipswich Magistrates Court to breaching his bail conditions, public nuisance and failing to leave a licensed venue.

He also pleaded guilty to threatening violence, along with drink and unlicensed driving.

The court heard Steele confronted a man on November 22, 2015 who his fiancé claimed was hitting on her.

He threatened the man outside his home and said he would come back with a gun if he did not leave her alone.

Steele was charged again on December 3 with breaching bail conditions after he unexpectedly ran into the man and caused a scene at the Swifts Sports Club.

Steele was sentenced to two months behind bars but was released on parole after having served four days in custody.
