‘Steam Punk’ dolls rock with industrial vibe

MARYBOROUGH resident Annette Geysing has made quirky dolls for more than a decade and still can't get enough.

"It's just fun," she said.

"A lot of art is incorporated into them with face painting and doing their hair."

Mrs Geysing, who belongs to both Maryborough's Dolls with Attitude club and the Hervey Bay Rag Bag Dolly Club Inc, has showcased her wares alongside the work of other doll making enthusiasts at the Fraser Coast Show for more than eight years.

"We always get lots of people who walk past and are very interested," she said.

"Doll making is fun and our demonstrations encourage new members to join."

Mrs Geysing said her favourite doll to make was the steam punk girl.

"It's like the industrial revolution mixed with a bit of science fiction," she said.

"I've even seen them made from watch parts and mechanical pieces."

To view the dolls exhibit, visit the Fraser Coast Show this Thursday and Friday at the Maryborough Showgrounds.
