St John’s students go for vintage style in formal entrance
THE entrance into a school formal is nowadays almost as important as the outfit they wear – which is why Wade Anderson was determined to go in style.
The St John’s senior was one of several students to ‘hire’ cars from the Roma Historical Motor Club for their formal entrance at the Explorers Inn on Friday night.
Due to restrictions, the club can’t hire cars out in the traditional sense, but can take people to a destination as part of club run.
“For formals, the exception to these (guidelines) is if the club organises a ‘club run’ from one starting point to the formal, with students being dropped off to this starting point,” RHMC president Karen Dawes said.
“It boosts the profile of the club and it’s a good feeling to know we’re part of their special day.”
Students also donated money to charity as part of the ‘club run’, which went to Project Compassion – one of St John’s School’s main causes.
Going to his formal in a 1927 Oldsmobile made Friday night even more special, according to Wade.
“It was pretty fun – I enjoyed it a lot,” he said.
