Squash season hits off
SQUASH: Charleville squash is off and running again with 42 players taking to the court for another competitive season.
The first week provided great squash games being played and some reports say a lot of players pulled up very sore after their game.
The Charleville Squash Club are hoping this year will prove to be another successful year.
Results from Wednesday's games saw team Black Caviar defeat Kingston Town 23 games to 10 games.
Team captain Jay Steer battled it out in four games to secure the win.
Curly Liston came out of retirement after two years to beat an improving Brad Maloney, 3-2.
Courtney Bylett welcomed new player Jarrod Kerr to the club with a win in four games.
Ben Doolan showed good form in beating another new player, Dale Chicken, who claimed the loss was a result of travel sickness after travelling 140km from Wellclose to play each Wednesday night.
Team Sunline had a close win over Winx, 15-13 games, where veteran Lindsay Newby pulled out his usual bag of tricks to defeat Rob Sullivan in straight sets.
Josh Griffiths continued to improve with a 3-1 win over Matt Jackson and Luke Maher pulled out some good shots to beat Glen Wallace 3-1.
Damon Moody had to pull out all stops to defeat a brilliant Jodie McLeod in a marathon five sets.
Team Makybe Diva defeated Saintley 16-15 and a determined Nick Russell beat old timer Jack Sommerfield.
Jed Sommerfield showed too much experience for an improving Taylor Doneman beating her in straight sets.
