South-west Qld celebrates unpaid family carers
ROMA and south-west Queensland will celebrate an incredible group of people next week - unpaid carers.
Carers Queensland's Roma branch has been organising plenty of activities and events ahead of National Carers Week from next Monday, as their way of saying thanks to those who care for family members.
Team leader Helen Murphy said carers were invaluable to the Australian economy.
"Should all carers decide to stop performing their caring role, it would cost the country $60.3 billion per year to replace those supports,” she said.
Roma carers have been invited to a luncheon on Tuesday at the Roma Gun Club from 11.30am.
The Carer-Friendly Business Award will also be handed out at the event.
St George will host a lunch at Stevie Jeans on October 19, while Charleville carers will be able to enjoy lunch on Friday, October 21 at the RSL.
The Miles lunch will be hosted at the Murilla Room in the Dogwood Centre.
