Social services are coming to a town near you
ACCESS to social services will be made easier for residents in the southwest when the Golden Wattle mobile service centre embarks on a journey around the region from next week.
The 20-tonne truck, fitted out as a mobile Centrelink office, will travel from Thallon to Quilpie from July 9, loaded up with Department of Human Services staff who will be providing face-to-face service and tailored support for rural Australians.
In addition to Centrelink services, the team on board will be handling Medicare and Child Support, and are able to help residents navigate the DHS online services.
A social worker will also be on board to provide short-term counselling and referrals.
